Abstract

This study explores gender representation in modern literature by comparing Eastern and Western literary works. The research aims to analyze how gender roles, identities, and power dynamics are portrayed in contemporary novels, short stories, and poetry from both literary traditions. Using a comparative literary approach, the study examines thematic patterns, character development, and narrative structures to identify cultural influences on gender representation. The findings indicate that while Western literature often emphasizes individualism and gender fluidity, Eastern literature tends to reflect collectivist values and traditional gender norms, though contemporary works show signs of transformation. These insights contribute to a broader understanding of gender discourse in global literature and its implications for literary criticism and social change.
